Municipal Council of Immigrants – CMI

Linked to the Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship, the Municipal Council of Immigrants was created by Municipal Law nº 16,478/2016. It is a consultative body composed equally of representatives from eight municipal departments and eight representatives of civil society, with the task of formulating, monitoring and evaluating municipal policies aimed at the immigrant population. Missão Paz has had a representative elected to the CMI since 2018, in the category “organization supporting immigrants” and was re-elected for the current term, valid until 2023.

Municipal Commission for the Eradication of Slave Labor – COMTRAE

The Municipal Commission for the Eradication of Slave Labor, the first of its kind at municipal level in the country, is a joint body that aims to unite different segments of society to build public policies aimed at eradicating slave labor in the city of São Paulo . The Commission is under the responsibility of the Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship (SMDHC), through the Coordination of Policies for Immigrants and Promotion of Decent Work.

Network for Immigrant and Refugee Health Care

The network was initially formed by members of the Missão Paz team (Eixo Saúde and Casa do Migrante), a team from profa. Miriam Debieux, IPq psychiatrists. In a second moment, professionals from the Sé – SUS health units and the mental health team from Caritas Arquidiocesana de São Paulo also got involved. Little by little it grew and today has the active participation of representatives from 50 organizations/services that operate not only in the city of São Paulo, but also in Curitiba and Belo Horizonte.

The network aims to discuss cases, to observe the flows and paths taken by the individual in order to promote social protection for immigrants or refugees and to monitor the process of building public policies for immigrants and refugees, in the field of health, especially in municipal sphere.

State

State Commission for the Eradication of Slave Labor – COETRAE

Decree No. 57,368, of 2011, established, together with the Secretariat of Justice and the Defense of Citizenship, the State Commission for the Eradication of Slave Labor – COETRAE/SP, which aims to evaluate and monitor related actions, programs, projects and plans to preventing and combating slave labor in the State of São Paulo.

Migration and Refuge Committee – CER

Created by State Decree No. 52,349/2007, its goal is the development of the State Human Rights Program and the effectiveness of access to civil, political, social and cultural rights through the dissemination and understanding of the phenomenon of human mobility, in particular, affected by conflicts and wars, as well as resulting from the social and economic difficulties experienced by populations around the world.

Federal

Collaborative Advocacy Network – RAC

It is an alliance established for an indefinite period, whose main objective is to connect collective and diffuse interests of civil society with the National Congress by strengthening the advocacy of Brazilian civil society linked to the causes of transparency and integrity in the public sphere, socio-environmental development, new economy and human rights. Missão Paz is part of the Migration and Refuge sub-GT.

Solidarity Network for Migrants and Refugees – RedeMir 

The Solidarity Network brings together approximately 45 institutions in Brazil, covering all regions of the country; articulated by IMDH, with the support of UNHCR, is united in the humanitarian commitment to care, defense of rights, resettlement, assistance and integration of refugees, in social action and legal assistance to migrants, in political advocacy and in the demand for public policies in favor of this cause.

Participation in the Working Group established within the scope of the Institutional Technical Cooperation Agreement for the Protection and Promotion of Humanitarian and Solidarity Solutions in Situations of Unadmitted Migrants at Guarulhos International Airport.

Completed actions

2019 | Project “Network Action” – ESMPU  

Carrying out “Political Management at Local Level” workshops within the scope of training cycles for public agents and civil society, in several Brazilian state capitals, through the “Actuação em Rede” initiative organized by ESMPU – Escola Superior do Ministério Público da União, in partnership with UN agencies, DPU and civil society.


2019 | United Nations Human Rights Council

Participation in the 41st Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council and in the UNHCR Annual Consultation with NGOs, at the invitation of Conectas Human Rights.


2018 | Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR)

Participation in the Public Hearing “Situation of human rights of Venezuelan people in the context of human movement in the Americas” in the 168th session of the IACHR held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.


2017-2018 | GLO.ACT

GLO.ACT was a four-year initiative (2015-2019), funded by the European Union, and implemented by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Fund United Nations for Children (UNICEF). The program was part of a joint response to human trafficking and migrant smuggling and is being implemented in 13 countries, strategically selected in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.

At the invitation of GLO.ACT and the Federal Public Defender's Office (DPU), Missão Paz participated in joint actions in Boa Vista-RR (October/2017), Corumbá-MS (June/2018), Manaus-AM (July/2018 ). 


2015-2016 | Intersectoral Committee on Municipal Policy for the Immigrant Population in the City of São Paulo

Body created in August 2015, by the Coordination of Policies for Migrants of the City of São Paulo, with the purpose of preparing policy proposals for the immigrant population residing in the city. The Committee's work aimed to define the objectives, guidelines and principles of public policies aimed at this population and resulted in the drafting of the Municipal Law for the Immigrant Population (Law nº 16,478/16).
